Improving Skills Course – February 2026

We have partnered with Abingdon & Witney College, National Careers Service, Enterprise Oxfordshire, DWP (Department for Work and Pensions), UKAEA (UK Atomic Energy Authority), Williams Jet Tenders Ltd, and Community Catalysts to launch a new, FREE 8-week Improving Skills Course for over 19’s – especially tailored for Berinsfield residents.

The course will launch in February 2026 and is part of a wider Oxfordshire programme to make the county a healthier and more equitable place for all. For Berinsfield, this means making more practical skills, professional training and further education opportunities available within the village so that residents do not need to rely on public transport for access.

So whether you want to upskill, gain knowledge about setting up your own business, prepare yourself to get back into the work place and more, please take a look at our course and see if there is anything you’d like to register for.

There are more details on the Abingdon & Witney College website, and we have planned free drop-in events for January where you can speak to those involved before registering for the course or individual modules, which will be weekly from early February 2026:

  • Wednesday 7 January, 2-4pm Berinsfield Library
  • Wednesday 7 January 5-7pm, Williams Jet Tenders Ltd
  • Tuesday 13 January 6-7pm Online via Teams
  • Wednesday 14 January, 2-4pm St Mary and St Berin Church

See the New Welcome Sign Designs!

Due to unforeseen circumstances our Community Artist is no longer able to attend our Welcome Sign design drop-in on the 11 December. We’re therefore postponing until the new year and will announce the date very soon.

At the event our Community Artist Jo Acty will present the draft welcome sign designs, showcasing the ideas and identity contributed by local residents through the community consultations held in November.

Attendees will have the opportunity to view the designs, provide final feedback, and help shape the version that will be presented to the Parish Council.

We’re aiming to have the new sign installed in early 2026 — with a community unveiling event to celebrate!
