Our Children, Our Community, Our future, Young People's Framework 2010 - 13

"We need to ensure that all partners work together to offer all young people opportunities to improve their lives" councillor Ann Ducker, Leader of South Oxfordshire District Council.

This framework has been developed to recognise and support the needs of younger residents, agred 13-19.  It builds on existing partnership working between South Oxfordshire District Council and Vale of White Horse District Council to make the best use of resources through shared projects and activities leading to improved opportunities for young people.

It highlights key areas, which have been identified as a priority for young people and partners whch are used to inform our priority work areas.  These are:

  • ensuring young people can express their views at a local and national level
  • providing young people with the knowledge to develop as active citizens and opportunities to engage with local councillors
  • ensuring young people are aware of, and can participte in positive activities in their area
  • proving information about careers in local government and local jobs and offering work experience placements
  • working with young people on projects to bring together different groups in the community and help young people promote a positive image of themselves.

You can download a copy of the Young People's framework - see link above. Or for more information contact the Young People's Coordinator.
