Our finances

Information regarding the day to day services provided by the Financial Team at South Oxfordshire District Council.

The day-to-day services we provide are paid for from the Council Tax we charge and by a grant we get from the Government.  These each pay for roughly half our annual expenditure.

We prepare annual spending plans (revenue budgets) setting out in detail how we intend to spend this money.

We also prepare a three year plan of what we will spend to improve services in the longer term called the capital programme.

Please see Budget Information for  more information on these plans.

At the end of each financial year (which runs from 1st April to 31st March) we prepare a Statement of Accounts showing how the money has been spent.  This is independently audited and certified by the Audit Commission.

The Council sets a range of fees and charges covering everything from animal boarding licence fees to zoo licence fees, from car park charges to local land charge search fees.

For more information about our finances, please contact the Finance team.
