Council outlines priorities in new plan

The future priorities for South Oxfordshire have been set out in a plan that the district council will follow for the next few years, through the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent recovery. The council has launched its brand-new Corporate Plan outlining how it will serve its communities until 2024.

The plan highlights priorities including the protection and restoration of nature, economic recovery, community well-being and addressing the Climate Emergency. The plan is available here.

South Oxfordshire District Council approved the content for its Corporate Plan at its meeting on 8 October.

The themes in the plan were developed following a hugely successful engagement exercise, during which many hundreds of residents, businesses and community groups fed back on which priorities were most important to them.

 These are:

  1. Protect and Restore our Natural World
  2. Openness and accountability
  3. Action on the climate emergency
  4. Improved economic and community well-being
  5. Homes and infrastructure that meet local needs
  6. Investment that rebuilds our financial viability

South Oxfordshire District Council Leader, Cllr Sue Cooper, says: “We developed the plan during the Coronavirus pandemic and so it reflects the need to focus on a sustainable recovery that prioritises community well-being and resilience as well as economic prosperity.”
