Basildon Park

Sitting elegantly in 162 hectares (400 acres) of historic parkland and gardens, this 18th-century house was purchased by Lord and Lady Iliffe in the 1950s, when it was de-requisitioned after the Second World War. With extraordinary vision, the Iliffes brought Basildon Park back to life, acquiring a collection of fine furnishings and carefully selected Old Masters.

The wooded parkland offers glorious seasonal colour, with spring bluebells, summer buttercups and autumn leaves, while the landscape has been carefully restored to offer wonderful views, peaceful trails and picnic places, with areas for children to run and play. Winter walks are a must.

Greys Court

An intimate family home and peaceful estate set in the rolling hills of the Chilterns.

This picturesque 16th-century mansion and tranquil gardens were home to the Brunner family until recent years. The house exudes a welcoming atmosphere with a well-stocked kitchen and homely living rooms. The series of walled gardens is a colourful patchwork of interest set amid medieval ruins.

Other buildings from earlier eras include the Great Tower from the 14th century and a rare Tudor donkey wheel, in use until the early 20th century.

Little City – 50% off

Little City are offering YouMove families 50% off sessions happening in Didcot, Kingston Blount, Harwell and Standford in the Vale. Little City is an entirely mobile role play City for age 6 and under to explore and enjoy.

Utilising our bespoke backdrops and specially selected high-quality toys and equipment, your child can fully immerse themselves in their own world and welcome you in too! Our toddlers and pre-schoolers are our biggest observers: they have watched us as adults in the supermarket, post letters in the Post Office and style our hair.

At Little City your little ones can ‘be’ grown ups: where nothing is off limits, they can be the hairdresser, the firefighter, the builder, the café owner and much, much more.

There are limited codes available each month.

To get your discount code please email youmove@southandvale.gov.uk with your YouMove card number and location of the session & time (9.30am or 11am) you would like to attend.
