Flag raised to mark Armed Forces Day

Armed Forces Day on Saturday 24 June is our chance to show our support to everyone in the Armed Forces community: from currently serving troops to Service families, veterans and cadets.

To mark the occasion, Cllr David Bretherton, Armed Forces and Veteran’s Champion at South Oxfordshire District Council, helped to raise the official Armed Forces Day flag at the council’s Abbey House office in Abingdon.

Cllr David Bretherton said: “We are very proud of the role The Armed Forces play in South Oxfordshire and we greatly admire and appreciate everything they do for this country and in supporting people around the world.

“It is also important that we also express our gratitude to the Service families from across the Armed Forces who play a vital role in supporting our veterans and those who are currently serving.”
