Performing Arts Grant to support local arts and community wellbeing

Published 2 July 2026

Local arts organisations can apply for a share of £60,000 from South Oxfordshire District Council’s Performing Arts Grant when applications open on Monday 20 July.

The funding supports arts and community projects that give residents across the district the chance to take part in the performing arts, bringing communities together, improving wellbeing and helping grow South Oxfordshire’s arts scene.

Voluntary and community organisations can apply for grants of between £500 and £5,000. Funding can be used for projects such as festivals, concerts, dance lessons, accessible music sessions and equipment purchases.

Cllr Georgina Heritage, Cabinet Member for Communities at South Oxfordshire District Council said: “The Performing Arts Grant gives valuable support and much needed funding to local organisations, helping them deliver projects and continue their fantastic work in our communities.

“Now in its third year we’re already seeing the difference this funding is making, with more people getting involved in music, dance and theatre, and local organisations able to reach new audiences and offer more opportunities to get involved.

“This grant helps more people enjoy and experience the performing arts, while also encouraging organisations to work together and strengthen the local arts community.”

Previous recipient Thomley used the funds to improve their music room and run three inclusive workshops in drama, beatboxing, and dance, helping disabled people take part in music, build confidence, and enjoy creative activities together.

Anna Capitani-Dutton, Operations Manager at Thomley said: “This project gave disabled children, young people and adults the opportunity to explore music, movement and performance in a fun, inclusive environment. Participants developed confidence, creativity and social connections, while families enjoyed seeing their loved ones engage in new experiences.

“The improvements to our music room will continue to benefit the local community long after the project has ended, ensuring accessible music activities remain part of Thomley’s regular programme.”

Applicants must show how their projects meet the following community values and priorities, fostering a vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable performing arts scene in South Oxfordshire:

  • Increase the range of arts opportunities available to local communities.

  • Develop local artistic talent
