A win-win for SO Lottery supporters and local organisations

Published 20 November 2025

The SO Charitable Lottery is giving residents an extra reason to take part this season. Anyone entering before Saturday 29 November will be in with a chance to win a Nintendo Switch 2 bundle (or cash alternative) along with £500 for their chosen cause – a win-win for residents and the community this Christmas.

Run by South Oxfordshire District Council, the lottery raises funds for local charities and community groups, giving players the chance to choose the cause they wish to support.

Each £1 ticket in the SO Charitable Lottery also enters players into the regular weekly draw, with cash prizes available and jackpots of up to £25,000.

Stephanie Pereira, from Friends of Ewelme School said: “Friends of Ewelme School signed up to the SO Charitable Lottery in 2018, and it’s been a brilliant source of income for the school.

“We’re a small school, so receiving the additional funds makes a big difference to us. The children all love learning outdoors, and benefit hugely from these sessions, so thank you SO Lottery for helping Friends of Ewelme School!”

Iain Atkin, Sanctuary Manager for The Oxfordshire Animal Sanctuary, said: “Thanks to the SO Lottery, we can continue our mission of giving every animal that comes through our doors the medical care they deserve and the best possible chance of finding their forever home.

“We’d encourage all residents of South Oxfordshire to consider signing up to the SO Charitable Lottery. Not only do participants have the chance to win prizes, but they also know that their contribution is making a real, tangible difference to local animals and the community organisations working tirelessly to help them.”

Cllr Georgina Heritage, Cabinet Member for Communities at South Oxfordshire District Council said: “Thanks to the generosity of SO Lottery supporters, many charities and organisations have seen a real difference from the funding. Not only do supporters have the chance to win prizes, but they also know that their contribution helps local causes.”

Tickets cost just £1 with 60p from every ticket sold going to support charities and community groups across the district.
