Help us to ensure voting is accessible for everyone

Residents are being asked what they think of proposed changes to polling stations in South Oxfordshire and the Vale of White Horse.

As part of a statutory review, South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse District Councils are looking at changing the locations of a number of the polling stations they use, to ensure they are accessible for everyone in future elections.

The councils are particularly interested to hear from anyone who faced challenges in accessing a polling station during the 2024 General Election or Police and Crime Commissioner Election.

To find out more and to have your say:

  • For South Oxfordshire residents, go to southoxon.gov.uk/southpolling – comments are open until 25 October 2024.
  • For Vale of White Horse residents, go to – whitehorsedc.gov.uk/valepolling – comments are open until 21 October 2024.
  • You can also send a written response to Electoral Services, South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse District Councils, Abbey House, Abbey Close, Abingdon, OX14 3JE.

Steven Corrigan, Returning Officer for South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse District Councils said: “Everyone should be able to go and vote without having to worry about whether they will have problems getting in and out of the building.  It’s vital that all our polling stations are fully accessible, so please let us know what you think of the proposed changes, or if there’s another polling station that you have concerns about.”

Notes for editors:

As local authorities, the two district councils have a statutory duty to review polling districts and polling places at least once every five years for their UK parliamentary constituencies.
