Green Deal

The Green Deal lets you pay for energy saving improvements to your home through savings on your energy bills.  The charge is attached to your electricity meter and repaid over time through your electricity bill so the repayments remain with the property.  If you move the charge will continue to be repaid by the next owners.  The repayments shouldn't exceed the amount of energy saved so your electricity bill shouldn't go up.

Energy-saving improvements include:

  • loft and cavity wall insulation
  • Internal and external solid wall insulation
  • heating
  • draught-proofing
  • double glazing and secondary glazing
  • renewable energy technologies – e.g. solar panels or wind turbines
