The Green Deal lets you pay for energy saving improvements to your home through savings on your energy bills. The charge is attached to your electricity meter and repaid over time through your electricity bill so the repayments remain with the property. If you move the charge will continue to be repaid by the next owners. The repayments shouldn't exceed the amount of energy saved so your electricity bill shouldn't go up.
Energy-saving improvements include:
- loft and cavity wall insulation
- Internal and external solid wall insulation
- double glazing and secondary glazing
- renewable energy technologies – e.g. solar panels or wind turbines
For more information visit the Energy Saving Trust or the GOV.UK . Alternatively, contact the Energy Saving Advice Service on 0300 123 1234. The Energy Saving Advice Service is a national helpline funded by the Government to provide free, impartial and independent advice on saving energy in your home including Green Deal.
Free Green Deal Pre-Assessments
The first stage of a Green Deal is a Green Deal assessment carried out by an accredited Green Deal Assessor. The assessment will identify the energy saving home improvements you could make and what the financial savings would be.
Enter some basic details and you’ll see a snapshot of what you could achieve through Green Deal. You'll see how much you will save by installing each recommendation, how much it will cost and how long it will take to pay for itself.
