The Orchard Centre
Orchard Centre phase two is now open following a £50 million expansion.
M&S Food Hall, H&M, TK Maxx, Starbucks, River Island, Costa Coffee and Boots opened their doors in March – taking up 60 per cent of the new floor space built.
Nando’s restaurant has also confirmed they will be opening their doors later this year with Hammerson, the developers, in advance talks with several other exciting brands who are hoping to take up available space in the town.
The first phase opened in 2005 and includes Sainsbury’s superstore and high street names such as Argos, Game and Next. The Orchard Centre also has a 5-screen cinema, Cornerstone arts centre and theatre, cafés and restaurants.
A Changing Places facility also opened in the new phase of the centre. The £20,000 room with accessible toilet and hoist was paid for by the council and goes beyond statutory requirements in helping those that can not use standard accessible toilets.
This new phase is a significant milestone for the future growth of Didcot Garden Town that will bring approximately 15,000 new homes to the region. The newly opened stores are expected to create approximately 500 new jobs, part of the garden town plans to create 20,000 new career opportunities over the next two decades.
