The Orchard Centre
A £50 million expansion to the Orchard Centre opened in March 2018 with M&S Food Hall, H&M, TK Maxx, Starbucks, River Island and Snap Fitness 24/7 gym moved in for residents and visitors to enjoy.
Nando’s restaurant, Berro Lounge cafe/bar and Kaspa's desserts have all opened their doors offering new locations for families and friends to catch up and, owners of the centre Hammerson, are in advance talks with several other exciting brands who are hoping to take up available space in the town.
The first phase of the Orchard Centre opened in 2005 and includes Sainsbury’s superstore and high street names such as Argos, Game and Next. The Orchard Centre also has a 5-screen cinema, Cornerstone arts centre and theatre, cafés and restaurants.
A Changing Places facility also opened in the new phase of the centre. The £20,000 room with accessible toilet and hoist was paid for by the council and goes beyond statutory requirements in helping those that can not use standard accessible toilets.
The new phase is a significant milestone for the future growth of Didcot Garden Town that will bring approximately 15,000 new homes to the region. The newly opened stores are expected to create approximately 500 new jobs, part of the garden town plans to create 20,000 new career opportunities over the next two decades.
