Second round of Performing Arts grant now open

A new round of the £60,000 Performing Arts Grant scheme, run by South Oxfordshire District Council, is now open to help local arts organisations thrive and to support community projects that promote well-being and bring people together through the arts.

The scheme is open to voluntary and community organisations in South Oxfordshire, who will be able to apply for a minimum of £500 and up to a maximum of £5,000 in funding.

The grant scheme aims to strengthen the cultural landscape of South Oxfordshire by supporting local projects that bring people together and promote mental health, emotional, and physical wellbeing – creating a positive and lasting impact on local communities.

Previous grant recipient Kenton Theatre used the grant funding to make the lighting more energy efficient and to enhance the theatre experience for the local community.

Dennis Oliver from The Kenton Theatre said: “The council grant has facilitated our purchase of new LED stage lights that are not only more energy efficient but enable the theatre to be more creative with its lighting options on stage.”

Cllr Georgina Heritage, Cabinet Member for Communities at South Oxfordshire District Council, said: “The Performing Arts Grant gives valuable support and much needed funding to local organisations, helping them deliver impactful projects and continue their great work in our communities.

“It’s fantastic to see the difference this grant has already made to local organisations helping bring communities together, making the arts more accessible, and supporting projects that care for the environment.

“This grant scheme not only helps inspire greater participation in the performing arts but helps us build stronger relationships and collaborations across the art and cultural sector.”

The deadline for applications is midday Friday 5 September 2025.
