Eye and Dunsden Neighbourhood Plan

Eye and Dunsden Parish Council is working on creating a neighbourhood plan to influence the way their area grows and develops into the future.

What’s happening now?

Eye and Dunsden Parish Council is working on a neighbourhood plan which has recently been submitted to South Oxfordshire District Council.

The publicity period on the draft plan concluded on 27 January 2026. The draft plan documents and comments received during the public period have now been submitted for independent examination.

Andrew Ashcroft has been appointed by the District Council to carry out the examination. The examiner’s role is to make recommendations on the draft plan, and ultimately recommend if the plan should proceed to referendum. Take a look at the Examination Arrangements.

The examiner has issued a Clarification Note, setting out initial comments on the submitted plan and outlining areas where further clarification would be useful. The Parish Council have issued a response to the Clarification Note.

On 25 March 2026, the Government commenced several provisions of the Levelling Up and Regeneration Act 2023 (LURA), including Sections 98 and 99, which introduce changes relevant to neighbourhood planning. The Government did not introduce transitional arrangements for these provisions, meaning that they apply to all neighbourhood plans currently in progress.

The District Council advised the Parish Council to update their Basic Conditions Statement and Neighbourhood Plan to respond to these changes. A list of the modifications made in response to these changes is set out in the Modifications Document.  The District Council held a further focused six-week consultation, inviting comments solely on this matter. This focused consultation ended on Monday 15 June 2026. Take a look at the comments received in response to the focused consultation.
