Parking fine scam warning

There have been several reports of scammers sending text messages to residents, purporting to be from the district council, demanding payment for a parking fine.

The messages warn failure to pay could lead to more fines, interest on charges, losing your licence and additional legal issues (see image below).

There is usually a link which goes to a website that looks like a government site, including names and logos of the district council, where postcode and payment details are requested.

South Oxfordshire District Council would not send any text messages to a resident about a parking fine – these messages are a SCAM.

If you receive a message like this please ignore it and do not click on any links. You can report it to Action Fraud.
