This page includes information about any elections or referendums currently scheduled to take place in South Oxfordshire.

In accordance with the Local Government and Police and Crime Commissioner (Coronavirus) (Postponement of Elections and Referendums) (England and Wales) Regulations 2020 and the Coronavirus Act 2020 a poll will not take place until 6 May 2021 or until such date or within such period as may be specified in any further regulations made under the Coronavirus Act 2020. The date of the poll will be specified in the notice of election published by the Returning Officer.

To vote at these elections, you must be:

  • aged 18 or over on election day, and
  • be a British, Irish, European Union citizen, or Commonwealth citizen with permission to enter or stay in the UK, or who does not need permission, and
  • be registered to vote by 19 April.

If you don’t know your ward area you can use our Postcode search – this will also tell you which elections are taking place in your area, and the polling station you will need to go to cast your ballot on election day.

Key dates for this election period are:

  • Monday 29 March – publication of Notice of Election 
  • Thursday 8 April (4pm) – deadline for submission of nominations
  • Friday 9 April (by 4pm) – publication of Statement of Persons Nominated
  • Monday 19 April – voter registration deadline
  • Tuesday 20 April (5pm) – deadline for applications to vote by post or for a postal proxy vote
  • Tuesday 27 April (5pm) – deadline for applications to vote by proxy
  • Thursday 6 May (7am to 10pm) – Polling Day
  • Thursday 6 May (5pm) – deadline for Emergency proxy applications
  • Friday 7 May – verification of all ballot papers
  • Friday 7 May (TBC) – count for local by-elections and neighbourhood plan referendums
  • Sunday 9 May – count for Oxfordshire County Council elections
  • Monday 10 May – count for Police and Crime Commissioner election
