Covid-19 lockdown update

We continue to work hard to support our communities and businesses as part of the response to COVID-19.

We’re currently assessing the full impact of the government’s announcement this weekend of a further national lockdown from Thursday 5 November to make sure we’re providing the right support where it’s needed most.  We are monitoring any further announcements from the government, and throughout this week we’ll let you know what impact the lockdown will have on our community and business support and our services.

The best place to go for the latest information is on our website at www.southoxon.gov.uk/covid19 which we will keep up to date with the latest information.

Our Community Hub remains a valuable point of contact for residents who need our support.  We have a dedicated team who can put you in touch with a network of volunteer groups and organisations and who can offer help with food and essential supplies, provide advice, or support.

The Community Hub team is currently available from:

  • 8.30am-5pm Monday to Thursday
  • 8.30am-4.30pm on Fridays

You can call our Community Hub on 01235 422600 or email communitysupport@southandvale.gov.uk

Our dedicated South and Vale Business Support Team is on hand with advice and guidance for businesses in our communities to help understand what the lockdown might mean to them, and what support is available. There’s lots of information already at www.svbs.co.uk and this page will be updated throughout the week and beyond.

We will once again be putting more staff resources into the response to the COVID-19 situation to ensure everyone that needs our help has it. This this may have an impact on some services, where we need to deploy staff from their usual roles to deal with more critical matters.  We thank you for your patience and understanding at this challenging time.

Cllr Sue Cooper, Leader of South Oxfordshire District Council, said: “We understand this might be an unsettling week for some, but rest assured we will once again be doing everything we can to ensure everybody that needs help can get it.”
