After studying Mathematics at the University of London and Operational Research Management and Studies at Imperial College, London, Sue went to work for ICI, then Associated Biscuits and eventually came to Oxfordshire where she worked for The Institute of Hydrology in Crowmarsh.
Whilst working for the Institute, after a spell in Kenya, she and her husband settled in Ewelme bringing up their six children to enjoy village life.
From 1991-2011, Sue was a district councillor for Benson. She held various positions including Chairman, Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Chair of Community Services – the committee that introduced the original green box recycling scheme to our district.
In 2018, she was re-elected during a by-election and became Leader of the Council following the recent district council elections.
Outside of public life, Sue is a Trustee of the Wilts & Berks Canal Trust and volunteers in Ewelme at the cress beds and village shop and, as a member of CAMRA, Sue volunteers at the Great British Beer Festival in London each summer. When she’s not volunteering, Sue enjoys seeing her family and all 14 grandchildren.
