Cornerstone showcases art inspired by nature for Oxfordshire Artweeks

Cornerstone Arts Centre in Didcot is celebrating Oxfordshire Artweeks 40th anniversary by hosting an exciting exhibition by two local artists. The ‘Inspired By Nature’ exhibition is now on and runs until 1 June and features work by Denny Webb and Charlie Davies.

The special exhibition includes a diverse selection of paintings celebrating the local landscape, nature, and the concept of bringing the outdoors inside. Through their work the artists hope to encourage visitors to enjoy the beauty of nature and their surroundings.

Cllr Maggie Filipova-Rivers, Cabinet member for community wellbeing at South Oxfordshire District Council, which runs Cornerstone Arts Centre, says: “We’re excited to feature these fantastic local artists as part of Oxfordshire Artweeks. Do come on down and see this lovely exhibition focusing on nature. Our new summer art classes will also provide residents with the opportunity to try new things and perhaps even become the next budding Oxfordshire artists.”

Cornerstone is also hosting art classes for adults including ‘Learn To Draw’, ‘Printmaking’ and ‘Life Drawing’ this Summer. These classes aim to be fun and friendly introductions to the skills and techniques needed to build confidence and artistic abilities. Classes are weekly but residents can sign up at any point during the season and a free taster session is available too.

Details of Cornerstone’s classes and how to join in are on its website www.cornerstone-arts.org. Visitors can see Oxfordshire Artweeks 40th Anniversary exhibition ‘Inspired By Nature’ in Cornerstone Arts Centre’s gallery from 3 May – 1 June for free during their regular opening hours. If visitors would like a closer look and a conversation with the artists involved Cornerstone is hosting a private viewing of the exhibition with the artists on 10 May at 7pm.
