Building Control Inspections
A request for an inspection must be made by 12:00 noon, the day before the inspection is required. If your request is logged after 12:00pm, it will request next-day +1. For example, if a site inspection is requested at 12:10pm on a Monday, the inspection request will be logged in Wednesday’s diary.
Please note a request for inspection does not automatically mean an in-person inspection will take place. Our Registered Building Inspectors will risk-assess the requests accordingly. Please note, under the regulations, we have 48 hours to make such inspections following your given notice.
In an attempt to collect evidence of inspections in the correct manner, we would advise Dutyholders download TimestampCamera Basic app (or similar) for Apple or Android to allow you to time-stamp and geo-tag your photos in line with government guidance. Systematic photos of construction build-up are also recommended. For example, on a domestic ground-bearing floor you may wish to photograph, where applicable, the reduced dig with tape measure, then the sub-base hardcore, then the sand-blinding, then the damp roof membrane, etc. and so on throughout the build-up process. You can then evidence this documented make-up to us in a sequential timeline to prove compliance within the requirements.
