Missed bins

Bin collections update – 22-26 June 2026

With very high temperatures expected this week, there may be some delays to our waste and recycling collections, including food waste and garden waste.

The health and safety of our crews is our top priority. Working in extreme heat can create unsafe conditions, so our teams may need to adjust their schedules to ensure they can work safely while carrying out collections.

  • Please put your bins out as normal, by 6am on your scheduled collection day, and our crews will collect them as soon as possible.
  • So you don’t have to contact us unnecessarily, please only report a missed collection if your bins haven’t been emptied but those belonging to your neighbours have. Thank you.

If you put your bins out before 6am (waste collections start at 6am) on your scheduled collection day, and we haven’t emptied them by 6pm, then report it as a missed collection.

You have until 5pm on the next working day after your scheduled collection day to report it.

Before reporting – please check with your neighbours: if everyone else on your street has had their bins emptied but you have not, then it may have been missed.

Before you do, check your collection day hasn’t changed due to bank holiday changes.

If bad weather has affected lots of waste collections, you do not need to report it – see below.

How to report a missed bin

Please click here to report a missed bin online.

Alternatively, you can contact our waste contractor, Biffa, by emailing admin.southoxford@biffa.co.uk or calling 01235 422123.

Collections affected by weather conditions

In the winter we may be prevented from emptying your bins when the roads are unsafe due to bad weather, eg snow, ice or high winds.

In the summer very high temperatures may mean the crews stop working at the hottest time of the day – but before the rounds are finished.

What to do

Please leave your bins out for two days after your scheduled collection day and we’ll aim to catch up. If that is not possible, please bring the bins back in and we’ll empty them next time they’re due.
