Application for lawful development certificate for a proposed use or development
This page contains all of the validation checklists, guidance notes and application forms you will need to complete for your lawful development certificate for a proposed use.
You can submit a Lawful Development Certificate to get the council’s formal decision whether you need planning permission for your proposed work. This costs 50% of the Planning application fee (£86 for a householder application) and you need to supply all of the information outlined in our checklist.
For simple projects you may not consider this formal determination necessary but any work you carry out is done at your own risk. You may find a certificate helpful when you come to sell your property in terms of providing certainty to prospective purchasers.
