How do I find out who owns land adjoining my property or in my area?
The council only keeps records regarding land that is, or was formerly, owned or leased by the council. Information about council owned assets is published on the Council’s asset list.
Council property list (transparency code)
Please note that some information was not immediately available and has not yet been added to the list. Further work on checking and verifying the information contained in this list will take place over the coming months. As further information is added, the attached file will be updated.
In the meantime, if you would like further information about any individual assets, please contact the Strategic Property Team by emailing email@example.com
Land not owned by the council
If the land is not owned by the council then the following contacts may be useful:
- – Find information about a property in England or Wales, even if you don’t own it. Search by address to find the owner, how far its general boundaries extend and whether it’s at risk of flooding
- – the Council transferred all of its housing stock to Sovereign in 1997, together with any information relating to houses that were purchased from the Council prior to the housing transfer under the right to buy scheme
- – owns areas of land and buildings in the district. It is also the highway authority and maintains and controls adopted roads in the area.
- Your local town or parish council - owns areas of open space, parks and allotments in the district.
