Demolition of Didcot A power station
Time has been called on Didcot A power station and the remaining cooling towers and the chimney stack will be dominating the skyline of the Thames Valley for just a few more months.
Where do we come in?
Our Environmental Protection team has been working closely with the demolition contractor, Coleman and Company, to ensure that the effects from noise and dust from the demolition are acceptable. The Environmental Protection team is happy that appropriate measures are in place to control these impacts. If you have concerns about the demolition works please contact Coleman and Company on 0121 325 2424 or visit www.coleman-co.com
Planning and building control officers have been working with RWE npower to ensure that the correct applications, notices, legal documentation and consents are in place for each of the seven proposed phases of demolition.
What’s next for the site?
Applications for outline planning permission for up to 400 homes, large and medium space for business, a 150 bed hotel, pub/restaurant, open space and infrastructure were submitted to both us and the Vale in June 2015. There are expected to be determined in February 2016. You can see these proposals on our website.
