Grants for voluntary sector organisations

COVID-19 support and reassurance to voluntary and community sector organisations

In response to the current rapidly changing situation, we’ve seen some incredible work being done by the voluntary and community sector to support vulnerable residents across the district and wish to thank you for your ongoing efforts.

Current grant recipients

We absolutely recognise that in these current, very challenging circumstances, your organisation may well be reviewing the services and support you currently offer to residents to provide the advice, help and support they will need over the coming months. For current grant recipients, we understand that COVID-19 has very likely had an impact on your council supported projects and would encourage you to keep in regular contact with the community enablement team on to discuss extending the time in which you have to start/complete your project during this period.

Funding for organisations involved with COVID-19 response

Emergency Assistance Grant for Food and Essential Supplies

The government has announced emergency assistance of £63 million to be distributed to local authorities in England to use to support groups who are helping people who are struggling to afford food and other essentials due to COVID-19.

South Oxfordshire District Council has been allocated £45,373, which will be used to support local charities and community organisations that are delivering essential services to vulnerable residents in South Oxfordshire impacted by COVID-19.

Proposals must satisfy one or both of the funding priorities:

  • meet the immediate needs of a significant number of residents who are struggling to afford food and/or essentials.
  • provide advice and information to a significant number of economically disadvantaged residents, to help them access longer term support they might need, such as benefits

The scheme opened on 1 September 2020 and applications will be assessed on a rolling basis. The assessment panel will meet every two weeks, the first closing date for applications was Monday 14 September. Applications received by that date are now being assessed and new applications can continue to be submitted, the next deadline is 5 October.

We expect the money to spent by 31 October 2020 so encourage early applications.

Funds awarded need to be spent by 31 March 2021
