Didcot Gateway is a development site located opposite Didcot Parkway Station.
Our aim is to transform this space into a high quality development scheme, comprising a high quality, balanced mix of residential and commercial space that is expected to deliver office space, shops, cafes, open space and a much improved pedestrian links between the station and the Orchard Centre.
Together with proposed developments north of Didcot Parkway Station, it will create a real business and living heart for the Science Vale area, bringing new employment opportunities and high quality residential space, to buy and rent, into the Town Centre.
What’s happening now:
Outline Planning permission for the Didcot Gateway development was granted in February 2016. For more information please visit the application page. However, following initial discussions with developers and investors it was decided to review the whole scheme again, in light of the wider Town Centre improvements included in the Didcot Garden Town masterplan (see https://didcotgardentown.commonplace.is/news) and map below
The scheme will be located at the heart of the region’s growth economy with Milton Park, one of Europe’s largest business parks, and the internationally renowned Harwell Science and Innovation Campus just minutes away.
With the local population rising to more than 62,000 by 2031, the expansion of Science Vale, and the increasing numbers using Didcot Parkway, the town is seeing a number of exciting developments including the expansion of the Orchard Centre, the development of Great Western Park and improvements to the railway station.
The new Didcot Gateway development will support South Oxfordshire District Council and Vale of White Horse District Council’s Local Plans for Didcot and Science Vale and will help Didcot become a regional centre offering housing, services and jobs, as well as excellent connections to Oxford, Reading and London.
