Didcot Gateway is a potential development site located opposite Didcot Parkway Station.
We want to create a ‘sense of arrival’ for visitors to Didcot Garden Town and the Science Vale with a modern high-quality scheme of residential and commercial space set to include shops, cafés and an improved pedestrian prioritised link from the station to the newly expanded Orchard Shopping Centre and independent shops on Broadway.
What’s happening now:
Outline planning permission for the Didcot Gateway development was granted in 2016 and more information can be found on the application page here.
We are currently reviewing the whole scheme to consider the wider town centre improvements included in the Didcot Garden Town Delivery Plan published last year.
You can read the Didcot Garden Town Delivery Plan here.
The area is located at the heart of the region’s growth economy with Milton Park, one of Europe’s largest business parks, and the internationally renowned Harwell Campus and Culham Science Centre are just minutes away.
With the local population rising to more than 62,000 by 2031, the expansion of Science Vale and the increasing numbers using Didcot Parkway, the town is seeing many exciting developments including the expansion of shops at the Orchard Centre and new facilities and homes being built on Great Western Park.
Didcot Gateway will support South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse District Councils’ Local Plans for the town and Science Vale by building new residential and commercial space that contributes to a vibrant garden town.
