Decision
Refusal of Planning Permission on 29th November 1999
Conditions / Refusal Reasons
That having regard to its height, form and prominent siting within
the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, particularly when
viewed from the south and the east, the proposed 35 metre high
monopole tower with associated antennae and microwave dishes would
constitute an intrusive and incongruous form of development which
would be detrimental to the special landscape character and appearance
of this part of the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Therefore,
the development would be contrary to the provisions of the Council's
adopted South Oxfordshire Local Plan, particularly policies G1, G15,
C1 and C2. The applicant's justification for a mast in this location
is not considered to warrant any departure from the adopted planning
policies of the Local Planning Authority.
