Conditions / Refusal Reasons
That, having regard to its height, form, and prominent siting within the
Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the proposed extension to
the tower would constitute a visually intrusive and incongruous form
of development which would be detrimental to the character and appearance
of this part of the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Furthermore, the proposed extension would be visually intrusive when
viewed from neighbouring properties and many locations within the
village of Woodcote. Therefore the development would be contrary to
the provisions of the Council's adopted South Oxfordshire Local Plan,
particularly policies G1, G15, C1 and C2. The applicant's
justification for a tower extension is not considered to be sufficient
to either address the Council's Telecommunications Consultant's
conclusions of a report dated April 1999 or warrant any departure
from the planning policies of the Local Planning Authority.
