Decision
Refusal of Consent to Display an Advertisement on 21st October 1999
Conditions / Refusal Reasons
Having particular regard to its prominent roadside location, the retention of this sign would constitute an obtrusive and inappropriate form of advertising in this attractive rural location. As such, the advertisement is detrimental to the rural character and attractive appearance of this part of the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and would be contrary to the provisions of the South Oxfordshire Local Plan, particularly policies G13 and C2. That the advertisement would cause a distraction to users of the public highway to the detriment of their safety and convenience.
