Conditions / Refusal Reasons
That, having regard to their excessive size, bulk and design, it is
considered that the proposed extensions to the existing property
would result in an inappropriate form of development which would
fail to respect the character and scale of the existing building.
In addition, the site lies outside the built-up area of Henley-on-Thames
and the proposed large extensions, together with the car parking
required to serve this commercial use, would consolidate the built-up
appearance of the site to the detriment of the character and visual
amenity of the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Therefore,
the development would be contrary to the provisions of the Council's
adopted South Oxfordshire Local Plan, particularly policies C2, H12, E6
and E8.
