Decision
Refusal of Planning Permission on 5th January 2000
Conditions / Refusal Reasons
That the proposal would be contrary to policies G8 and H12 of the adopted
South Oxfordshire Local Plan. Having regard to the size, scale and
design of the proposed extension, and its siting in relation to
the adjacent property, Beacon Cottage, it is considered that the
proposal would result in an incongruous form of development that would
appear out of keeping with the character of the existing dwelling, and
would detract from the standard of residential amenity enjoyed by the
occupiers of Beacon Cottage by reason of increased noise and disturbance.
That the proposal would be contrary to policies CON8 and CON10 of the
adopted South Oxfordshire Local Plan. The site lies in a prominent
position within the Kingston Blount Conservation Area and it is considered
that the proposed extension, by virtue of its height and design, would
appear intrusive and out of keeping with its surroundings, and would
neither preserve nor enhance the character and appearance of the
Kingston Blount Conservation Area.
