Decision
Refusal of Planning Permission on 19th January 2000
Conditions / Refusal Reasons
That the proposal would be contrary to policies G1, G5, C3, C6 and R1 of the adopted South Oxfordshire Local Plan. The site comprises part of an unspoilt rural field which makes a significant contribution to the setting of Stanton St John. The proposal to fence and formalize the site to provide new playground facilities, together with the required new parking spaces, will extend development into the open countryside and detract from the unspoilt rural character of the site and its surroundings which lie within an Area of Great Landscape Value. Furthermore there would appear to be no overriding need for a new playground given the existing playground facility adjacent to the Village Hall. That the proposal would be contrary to policies CON8 and CON10 of the adopted South Oxfordshire Local Plan. The site lies within the Stanton St John Conservation Area and the proposal would be out of keeping with and detract from the rural character and appearance of this part of the Conservation Area.
