Planning Permission on 6th January 1999
Conditions / Refusal Reasons
The use of the land for the carrying on of atomic energy research and
development shall be terminated by 31 December 2015 and all buildings,
structures, materials or plant the subject of this application, shall be
removed from the land which shall be left in a tidy and orderly state,
unless agreement is reached prior to 31 December 1999 between UKAEA, the
European Commission and another Party or Parties (with the approval of
the UK government and confirmation and documentary evidence of such
agreement having been reached being submitted to the Local Planning
Authority by 1 January 2000) providing for the use of the JET facilities
for experimental purposes after 1 January 2000 in which case the date
for compliance with this condition shall be 31 December 2018.
Reason: To accord with the provisions of the Structure Plan for
Oxfordshire and the South Oxfordshire Local Plan. Permission
is granted in view of the very special circumstances and the
granting of a general or permanent planning permission for
development in this location would conflict with these policies.
That the buildings, structures or plant shall be solely used by the UKAEA
and their partners or by an organisation of which the Authority and these
partners are members for the carrying on of atomic energy research and
development up until 31 December 2015 unless such agreement is reached
as is referred to in Condition 1 when the use herein before described
shall continue up until 31 December 2018.
Reason: To accord with the provisions of the Structure Plan for
Oxfordshire and the South Oxfordshire Local Plan. Permission is
granted in view of the very special circumstances and the granting
of a general or permanent planning permission for development in
this location would conflict with these policies.
