Decision
Refusal of Planning Permission on 26th November 1998
Conditions / Refusal Reasons
That, having regard to their excessive size and bulk and to their inappropriate details of design, the proposed extensions would result in an incongruous form of development which would be poorly related to the existing building and would detract from its character and appearance. The development would also be detrimental to the character and amenity of the area which lies within the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Therefore, the development would be contrary to the provisions of the Council's adopted South Oxfordshire Local Plan, particularly policies C2 and H12. That, having regard to its close proximity to the hedge on the boundary of the site with Rifleman Cottage, the proposed garage could result in damage to, or loss of, part of the hedge which would be detrimental to the character and amenity of the area which lies in the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Therefore, the development would be contrary to the provisions of the Council's adopted South Oxfordshire Local Plan, particularly policy C2.
