Decision
Refusal of Planning Permission on 12th January 2000
Conditions / Refusal Reasons
That the development is contrary to the General, Countryside and Employment policies of the Council's South Oxfordshire Local Plan, particularly policies G1, G8, C1, C2 and E6 in that the use of extensive areas outside of any building on the site for the display and sale of vehicles results in an intrusive and inappropriate form of development in this generally open and attractive location within the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. As such, the use is not of a scale and type appropriate to its surroundings and neither preserves nor enhances the natural beauty or special landscape character of the area. That the site adjoins a busy class A road where traffic is busy and fast moving. The display of vehicles for sale on the forecourt would cause a distraction to the highway users and would thereby, be detrimental to the safety of useres of the public highway. That the proposal fails to make adequate provision within the site for the parking of vehicle transporters, thereby resulting in such vehicles parking on the road to the detriment of the users of the highway and contrary to policy G11 of the Council's adopted South Oxfordshire Local Plan.
