Conditions / Refusal Reasons
That, in a decision notice dated 29 March 1984 reference T/APP/V3120/A/
008326/PEL on an appeal against the decision of the District Council to
refuse planning permission for the conversion of an existing carport into
a part of the dwelling at 25 Grimmer Way, Woodcote, reference SO/S/313/83,
the Inspector appointed to determine the appeal dismissed the appeal and
stated, inter-alia: "It seems to me that your client's proposal would
reduce the number of low cost houses available in the future for first
time buyers or small households with limited resources. This would be
contrary to the government's objectives as well as those of the Council."
In the opinion of the Local Planning Authority the same objections apply
to the development which is the subject of this application.
That, having regard to its excessive size and bulk, the proposed
extension would represent an incongruous addition to this modest
bungalow which would be detrimental to the character and appearance
of the original bungalow. As such, the proposal would be contrary to
the provisions of the adopted South Oxfordshire Local Plan, particularly
policy H12.
That, having regard to its excessive size and bulk in a prominent open
plan corner location, the proposed extension would result in the loss
of open amenity land and would thereby harm the character and appearance
of the surrounding area. As such, the proposal would be contrary to the
provisions of the adopted South Oxfordshire Local Plan, particularly
Policy H12.
