Remove 19th cent. staircase. Construct new staircase. Construct library gallery over first floor. Construct new partition at ground floor. Replace modern doors with oak veneer fire doors. Smoke detectors in ground floor classroom. ( As amended by drg No.s 90937/SE/500/21 Rev P1 acc Agent's letter dated 9 Sept. 1997 and drg No. 90937/930/100/202C and 203B acc. Agent's letter dated 4 Feb 1998. And as clarified by justification statement acc. Agent's letter dated 11 Feb. 1998).
Conditions / Refusal Reasons
That the works hereby permitted shall be begun before the expiration of
five years from the date of this consent.
Reason: By virtue of Section 18 of the Planning (Listed Buildings and
Conservation Areas) Act 1990.
That before any work is undertaken in pursuance of this consent, such
steps shall be taken and such works shall be carried out to secure the
safety and stability of the building during the alterations, and to
provide protection for the building against the weather during the
progress of the works.
Reason: To secure the safety and protection of the listed building.
That the works shall not begin until detailed specifications of the
stairway, balustrade, window grilles, internal doors and smoke detectors
have been submitted to and approved in writing by the Local Planning
Authority.
Reason: To safeguard the architectural and historic character and
appearance of the listed building.
That full details of the heating system shall be submitted to and approved
in writing by the Local Planning Authority prior to the commencement of
any works. The installation of the heating system shall not involve the
cutting or chasing into of any early structural timbers or old surfaces.
Reason: To safeguard the architectural and historic character and
appearance of the listed building.
That prior to the commencement of development, notice of works shall be
given to Emergency Recording, Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments
of England, National Monuments Records Centre, Kemble Drive,
Swindon, SN2 2GZ and they have been given reasonable access to the building
for at least one month following the grant of consent, for the purpose of
making a record, or within that period, they have stated that they have
completed their record of the building or that they do not wish to record
it. The attached copy of form RCHME 1-2 should be used to notify the
Royal Comission of the proposed works.
Reason: To ensure that the building is recorded prior to the commencement
of works.
