Decision
Refusal of Planning Permission on 27th February 1997
Conditions / Refusal Reasons
That the development would be contrary to the provision of the adopted
Central Oxfordshire Local Plan (Policies GB2, C5 and C6) and the approved
South Oxfordshire Local Plan (Policies GB3, C3 and C4) in that the use
of the site for the pitching of tents with associated vehicular traffic
and parking would detract from the rural character and landscape of an
area adjoining the River Thames within an area of Great Landscape Value
in the Oxford Green Belt and adjacent to the North Wessex Downs Area of
Outstanding Natural Beauty.
That the development would be contrary to the provisions of the adopted
Central Oxfordshire Local Plan (Policy G7) and the approved South
Oxfordshire Local Plan (Policy G10) in that the proposal would result in
increased use of access to the site which is via a long narrow single
track lane with inadequate facilities for turning and vehicle parking.
The development would therefore create inconvenience and hazard both for
users of the site, including emergency services and for other users of
the Lane.
