Decision
Refusal of Planning Permission on 9th October 1996
Conditions / Refusal Reasons
The adopted Didcot Local Plan and the approved South Oxfordshire Local Plan seek to protect and enhance the District's attractive character and built environment (see in particular SOLP policy G1). Therefore the Council seeks to ensure that all forms of development display a high standard of design, are appropriate in scale and materials used, are in keeping with the locality and do not harm the amenity of neighbouring properties (DLP policies L8, H10; SOLP policies G8, H12). Having regard to its excessive size and prominent siting, the structure results in an incongruous and intrusive form of development, detrimental to the visual amenity of the street scene and contrary to the provisions of the adopted and approved plans.
