Decision
Refusal of Planning Permission on 24th July 1996
Conditions / Refusal Reasons
That, having regard to their excessive size, inappropriate details of design and prominent location, the proposed buildings would result in an incongruous and intrusive form of development which would detract from the character and amenity of this part of the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The development would be contrary to the provisions of the Council's adopted Rural Areas Local Plan (particularly policies C3 and C7) and approved South Oxfordshire Local Plan (particularly policies C2 and C8), and there is no overriding need or other justification for such a large group of buildings which would warrant any departure from the planning policies of the Local Planning Authority. That the development would result in the intensification of the use of the Kings Farm Lane junction with the Harpsden to Sonning Common Road which lacks adequate visibility. Thereby, the development would be detrimental to the safety of users of the public highway and would be contrary to the provisions of the Council's adopted Rural Areas Local Plan (particularly policy G7) and approved South Oxfordshire Local Plan (particularly policy G10).
