Decision
Refusal of Planning Permission on 11th July 1995
Conditions / Refusal Reasons
That the proposal would occupy a prominent location in the Goring Gap and
Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and adjacent to the North
Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The proposed 20 metre
high lattice tower with associated antennae would constitute an
intrusive and incongruous form of development which would be detrimental
to the special landscape character and appearance of the Areas of
Outstanding Natural Beauty. The development would thereby be contrary
to the General and Countryside policies of the Council's adopted Rural
Areas Local Plan (particularly policies G1, C1 and C7) and approved
South Oxfordshire Local Plan (particularly policies G1, G15, C1 and C2)
which seek to protect the Districts countryside from inappropriate
developments and to conserve and enhance the natural beauty and special
landscape character of Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
