Given the design of the proposed first floor rear extension, the proposals would form a prominent feature when viewed from public vantage points. The proposed extension and the insertion of an additional side window is uncharacteristic of the existing property and properties of a similar type and design in the immediate surrounding area. The proposal would represent a visually incongruous and inappropriate form of development, at odds with the traditional architectural form of the historic terrace. As such, the proposed development would fail to enhance or make a positive contribution to the special interest, character or appearance of the Henley Main Conservation Area and is therefore, contrary to Policies DES1, DES2, ENV6 and ENV8 of the South Oxfordshire Local Plan and Policies H1 and SD3 of the Joint Henley and Harpsden Neighbourhood Plan 2035.
