The application site has an open and verdant frontage consistent with the setting, building line and character and appearance of the street. The proposed garage, due to its siting, scale and height, would be visually prominent from the road and would undermine the openness of the site and the positive contribution the site makes to the character and appearance of this part of Thame. As such the proposal would fail to preserve the open and verdant character and appearance of the area, and therefore, the proposal is contrary to Policies DES1 and DES2 of the South Oxfordshire Local Plan 2035 and guidance and policies contained within the South Oxfordshire Design Guide and National Planning Policy Framework.
