Conditions / Refusal Reasons
The siting of a steel shipping container as a permanent feature in the landscape is contrary to the special character and scenic beauty of the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This is contrary to policy CSEN1 of the South Oxfordshire Core Strategy; policy R5 of the South Oxfordshire Local Plan; and government guidance contained in the National Planning Policy Framework aimed at conserving and enhancing the landscape and scenic beauty of Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The box like design and use of materials in the shipping container are contrary to the character of the countryside and therefore contrary to policies G2 and G4 of the South Oxfordshire Local Plan.

The box like design and use of materials in the shipping container are contrary to the character of the site and its surroundings and therefore contrary to policy CSQ3 of the South Oxfordshire Core Strategy; policies D1 and R5 of the South Oxfordshire Local Plan; and government guidance contained in the National Planning Policy Framework aimed at achieving good design and respect for local distinctiveness in design of new development.

The development detracts from the visual amenity and enjoyment of users of the adjacent public right-of-way and users of the wider countryside contrary to policy R5 of the South Oxfordshire Local Plan.
