Refusal of Listed Building Consent on 10th January 2014
Conditions / Refusal Reasons
The existing sash windows are the original 19th century windows for this part of the house. The works, which include the insertion of slim profile double glazed units is not considered to be acceptable. The existing irregular glass forms an important part of the character of the building while the sashes themselves appear to be original to this part of the house. Replacement of these windows would only be considered acceptable where the sashes themselves are demonstrated to be beyond repair; this does not appear to be the case. The proposals are therefore considered to be harmful to the significance of the listed building through the loss of historic fabric and character, contrary to policy CON 3 of the South Oxfordshire Local Plan, policy CSEN 3 of the South Oxfordshire Core Strategy and guidance set out in the National Planning Policy Framework.
