Conditions / Refusal Reasons
The proposed extensions, by reason of their size, position and appearance, incorporating sizeable flat-roofed elements, would result in an incongruous form of development, which would detract from the character and appearance of the original dwelling and the locality. As such, the proposal would be contrary to Policies G2, G6, D1 and H13(ii) of the South Oxfordshire Local Plan 2011 and Section 6 of the South Oxfordshire Design Guide 2008.
The proposed extensions, by reason of their size, position and appearance, would result in an oppressive and overbearing development, generating a feeling of enclosure and loss of light and outlook to the closest rear facing rooms and rear garden of No.50. This would detract from the living conditions of the adjacent occupiers. As such, the proposal would be contrary to Policies G2 and H13(iii) of the South Oxfordshire Local Plan 2011 and Section 6 of the South Oxfordshire Design Guide 2008.
