Decision
Refusal of Planning Permission on 7th October 2011
Conditions / Refusal Reasons
The proposed development, due to the loss of historic fabric, its scale and its prominent location, would fail to respect the character and special historic and architectural qualities of the Grade II listed wall. Furthermore, the site lies within the Mapledurham Conservation Area, and the proposed development would detract from the character and appearance of the Conservation Area, and would also detract from the special landscape qualities of the Chilterns AONB. As a result the proposal is contrary to guidance contained within Planning Policy Statement 5: Planning for the Historic Environment and to Policies G2, G6, C2, CON1, CON3, CON6, CON7 and D1 of the South Oxfordshire Local Plan 2011.
