The kitchen extension would result in the loss of a traditional lean-to, would dominate the south elevation of the listed building and would also require the substantial alteration of the original roof line. The addition of the large area of glazing forming the corridor would obscure the details and plan form of the historic building. Overall, the proposal would detract from the special architectural and historic interest of the listed building. It would therefore be contrary to Policies CON2 and CON3 of the South Oxfordshire Local Plan 2011 and advice contained within government advice in PPS5.
