That having regard to its unsatisfactory form and prominent location on the front elevation of the building, the proposed retention of an illuminated advertisement scheme would result in an intrusive and inappropriate form of development which would detract from the traditional character and appearance of the Henley Main Conservation Area and be detrimental to the visual amenity of the street scene. Therefore the scheme does not comply with Policies CON8 and AD1 of the South Oxfordshire Local Plan 2011 and fails to accord with guidance within the Traditional Shopfront Design Guide.
