The proposed extensions and garage/carport, through their excessive size and position in relation to the site boundaries, would fail to be sufficiently subservient to the low-key character and appearance of the original dwelling and would detract from the natural beauty and landscape quality of the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. As such, the proposals would be contrary to South Oxfordshire Local Plan 2011 Policies G2, G6, C1, C2, C4, D1 and H13 and advice set out in Sections 5 and 6 of the South Oxfordshire Design Guide 2008 and PPS1, PPS5 and PPS7.
