Conditions / Refusal Reasons
That the extension to the main runway and creation of a crosswind runway has resulted in an intrusive and inappropriate form of development that detracts from the rural character and distinctiveness of the site, which lies within the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Therefore the development is contrary to the provisions of the South Oxfordshire Local Plan 2011, particularly policies G2, C1 and C2.

The use of the extended main runway and the crosswind runway facilities results in activity and disturbance that detracts from peace and tranquillity of this part of the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which is detrimental to the amenities of residents and other users of the countryside. In this respect the development is contrary to the provisions of the South Oxfordshire Local Plan 2011, particularly policies G2, EP2 and R4. Furthermore it is contrary to advice contained in policy D12 of the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Management Plan 2008-2011.
